Meal Plan October 29-November 2, 2012 Also, I Need Suggestions!!

Hi Readers,

Happy Sunday morning to you all!  How's your weekend treating you?  Ours has been wonderful.  We've been having lots of rain and I LOVE it.  It was actually snowing a little bit last week, although I'm sure I've already told you.  I'm feeling a little guilty today, because we missed church for the second week in a row because we slept late.  I know people say that it's okay because we have twins and that permits us to want to sleep late, but I still feel bad!  We ended up listening to a sermon online, so that's good!  So I still need to go grocery shopping today, and I cannot go grocery shopping without meal planning first, naturally!

But first I need to ask for your suggestions.  Do you do a themed meal plan?  Like meatless Monday, Crock Pot Wednesday, Soupy Saturday?  Anything like that?  Please let me know, because starting in November, (next week), I am going to be changing our grocery budget to start saving more money, couponing, eating more vegetarian meals, and just seeing how little we can spend, and still be eating well.  Please let me know if you have suggestions for a themed meal plan, couponning hints, vegetarian recipes, cheap recipes, or any money saving tips!

Monday:  I asked my husband what he wants this week and he suggested shrimp with alfredo and linguine.  And Garlic bread.  So I am at least going to make my own alfredo sauce here's a recipe I found on Pinterest:http://pinterest.com/pin/32088216066581384/

Tuesday:  I asked on the Cooking For Ireland Facebook page (Found here:    http://www.facebook.com/cooking4ireland) for suggestions for my meal planning last night, because I was trying to meal plan when I was extremely full, which was NOT working, and someone who has GREAT and similar taste buds to us made a few suggestions, and I am going to take her up on two of them this week :)  The first one I am going to do is Chicken Pot Pie, I don't have a recipe to post yet, because the pie crust and the filling are in my Betty Crocker cookbook, so you'll just have to stay tuned to see how it goes together!

Wednesday:  The second suggestion I am going to use is a tortilla soup!  YUM!  I found a recipe for it on Pinterest:  http://pinterest.com/pin/32088216066581467/  I'll probably serve it with sour cream!

So I have my grocery list all written out, and now I just need to prep myself to get ready, I'm going to have to be making lots of trip in the store because I have to pick up some stuff I ordered, go to the pharmacy, and I had some stuff shipped site-to-store and I will need to pick those up too!  I'm very excited, but a lot to do in the rain!  At least I love rain!

  1. I cook almost exclusively from scratch. I get a lot of my staples in bulk through www.azurestandard.com . Cooking from scratch is what saves you money so you can buy the better ingredients. I also make all my home cleaning product.I don't coupon because usually coupons are for processed foods. I only plan meals out one week, but don't have a theme. I just look at my schedule and see if I need to pull leftovers out of the freezer or if I have time, then I make something. When I make something, I make A LOT (like 2 to 4 gallons of soup at a time) or 3 to 5 of the same casseroles. Pretty soon, you get a good variety of meals in the fridge and those can be your "fast food" when you don't have time to cook :)

    1. I will have to check out that website! Thank you for the good ideas!! I like to cook and shred and freeze chicken to pull out and add to meals when I'm not feeling like doing much cooking!
