As you can tell by my title this post is about coleslaw, awe yeah. To be honest, I hated coleslaw until I was pregnant and ate everything in sight, (I grew two babies at once, and I was eating EVERYTHING). Well one Sunday after church we went to my husband's grandparents' house for lunch and they got KFC, chicken, potatoes, gravy, and coleslaw. To be honest I was only planning on having one chicken leg, a small dollop of mashed potatoes, and just a touch of gravy. I promise that was my plan, but in reality I have a leg, a breast, a boat of gravy two helpings of mashed potatoes, a roll, or two, (I forget), and I was STILL hungry, so I finally went for it, the dreaded coleslaw, and it was actually pretty good, I got seconds, or was it thirds? Either way, I discovered that I actually DO like coleslaw.
Now I hadn't had coleslaw since that time, and honestly hadn't thought about it either. I actually would probably have never considered making it had my sister-in-law not recommended a recipe to me. Now I was intrigued and had her send me the recipe, and I was so excited to check it out, and then I saw that it had, gulp, Miracle Whip. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it, but I had a bad Miracle Whip experience that ruined it for me. Try mistaking it for mayo and putting it on a burger, I bet you've done that before!! Not good.
But back to the coleslaw, so I was kind of turned off to this recipe and put it off for a few weeks. Recently I was re-organizing my Pinterest, because that's so important, and I found that recipe and I read what people said about it and one person basically said that they hate Miracle Whip but love the recipe, and that kind of convinced me, plus in my meal plan I had extra cabbage to use up.
So I decided to make it, and let me tell you, I've never had Famous Dave's Coleslaw before, but this was amazing! It was so easy, and quick, and fairly healthy, besides the Miracle Whip, salt, and prepared horseradish..okay so it's not that healthy, but it goes great with BBQ sauce, which was on our turkey sliders, so yay! Trust me that even if you're not a fan of Miracle Whip, you'll be a fan of the coleslaw, even if you don't like coleslaw, you should give it a try!
Get your 'slaw on,
